Obituary

Myrtle Evelyn Salmon Richburg, 86, formerly of De Leon, passed peacefully from this life Friday, November 3, 2023. She was born March 20, 1937, in Breckenridge, Texas to Ollie R. Phariss and Alvis Cordy Bushong Phariss.

Myrtle was raised in Colorado City, TX and lived there for many years. She raised her children there until she moved to De Leon in the early 1980's. She met the love of her life, Gerald Richburg, and they were married on August 20, 1982. Together they traveled the US and had many adventures. They were married for 27 wonderful years until his death. Myrtle was employed by Bill and Shirley Wilkerson for many years as a waitress and clerk. She enjoyed many hobbies including gardening, yardwork, and cooking. Myrtle loved listening to music and watching old westerns. She was a devoted Dallas Cowboy fan and cheered for them always. She loved holidays and having her family together. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her greatest joys in life. She was a Christian who loved her Lord and strived to share His love with others. She was a devoted wife, mother, doting grandmother and great-grandmother, special sister, sister-in-law, and aunt. Myrtle was a loyal friend to many, especially to her best friends Mary Beth Love and the late Doris Phariss. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her daughters: Rhonda Bell and husband Tim (of Blanco), Terri Owens and husband James (of Colorado City); sons, Matt Salmon and wife Penny (of Colorado City), and Zayne Salmon and wife Mary (of Whitewright); special brother, Joe Phariss (of Whitewright); 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and other extended family. Myrtle has been reunited with her husband Gerald; son Ronald (Clayton) Salmon; daughter and son-in-law Jaye and Gary Golden; brothers, Buck Jr, Jack, PeeWee, and Jimmie Dean; sisters, Juanita and Gertrude; and her parents.
