Neil
Thacker
Oct 5, 1943 — Jun 22, 2024
Neil A. Thacker, 80, of Dublin, passed from this life June 22, 2024, in Ft. Worth. He was born October 5, 1943, to Murray D. Thacker and Larna Anderson Thacker in Daniel, Utah. Neil married his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Tanya Hamilton, February 10, 1967.
After graduating from Wasatch High School, Neil attended college before entering the United States Air Force. He proudly served his country from 1963 – 1967 as an Airman First Class. Neil and Tayna have lived in the De Leon and Dublin areas for over fifty-one years. They are longtime faithful members of The Church of Latter Day Saints of Jesus Christ, Stephenville. Neil loved the Lord with all his heart and trusted in Him always. He was a long-time employee of Norton's Trucking.
Neil enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life including hunting, fishing, tending to his cattle, and spending time outdoors. He loved the Texas Rangers, Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Mavericks, and enjoyed working puzzles. The greatest joy in his life was his family. He adored Tanya and took great care of her and was a wonderful example of a loving husband and father. He taught his family what love is – in the good times and in the bad. He showed them patience, understanding, and grace. He will be missed immeasurably by all who knew and loved him. While his family will always feel the void left behind, they are rejoicing in his eternal presence with Jesus.
He is survived by his loving wife, Tanya; daughter, Dana Bibby (Randy); son-in-law, Johnny Munholland; daughter, Cindy Forrest; son, Tobe Thacker ( Maurine); grandchildren, Misty Mendez (Pedro), Josh Keith, Jennifer Bibby, Sean Thacker (Katherine), Brandy Garza, Savanna Clark (Ian), Aram Thacker (Alex), Cole Thacker (Cristina), Brodi Forrest (Jordan), Cydni Forrest, Alyssa Thacker, Kaley Forrest, and Teancum Thacker; sixteen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; brothers, Phil Thacker (LaRae) and Andy Thacker (Nicole); sister, Joyce Murphy; sister-in-law, Valerie Thacker; numerous nieces and nephews; and other extended family members.
Neil was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Christy Munholland; son-in-law, Steven Forrest; brothers, Roy Thacker (Beverly) and Jay Thacker; and brother-in-law, George Murphy.
Funeral services celebrating Neil's life were held Saturday, July 6, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Stephenville with Bishop Jake Heller presiding and son Tobe Thacker officiating.
