Nelton M. Warren, 96, of Temple, peacefully passed away Saturday, June 13, 2020. He was born November 29, 1923, in Evant, Texas to Lunie Warren and Delia McCauley Warren. Nelton married Billie Merle Paulk March 20, 1946.
Nelton joined the United States Army at the age of eighteen and served during the WWII era. He was in the 11 th Airborne Infantry Division, 2 nd Battalion/ 511th/Regiment and was in New Guinea in the Pacific Theatre. After completing his service to his country, he went to work for the Missouri-Kansas-Texas (MKT/Katy) Railroad. He left De Leon in 1969 to move to Missouri for his railroad career and worked for MKT/Katy until his retirement. In his spare time, Nelton loved spending time outdoors. He enjoyed gardening, camping and fishing. He also greatly enjoyed spending time with his family.
Nelton was a lifelong Baptist and was a committed warrior for Christ. His faith in the Lord was the center of his life and he was determined to share the word of God with anyone he could. His relationship with God led him to become a Lay Minister later in his life. Nelton was a loving husband, devoted father, doting grandfather, loyal friend and faithful servant to God. He lived a full and long life and leaves a loving legacy in his family. He is survived by his daughters, Susan Faucett, and Carolyn Ann Edwards and husband, Dennis; son, John Paul Warren and wife, Vicky; grandchildren, Jacobe Faucett, Jana Lewellen, Jennifer Jones, Jason Faucett, John Stegner, III, Megan Thieman, Danielle Rapp, McCauley Warren, and Taylor Webb; fourteen great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; other extended family and many friends. Nelton has been reunited with his loving wife, Billie, his parents, four brothers, and one sister.
Funeral services celebrating Nelton's life were held Saturday, June 27, 2020 at 10 a.m. at Nowlin Anders Funeral Home with Brother Robert Williams officiating. Interment followed in De Leon Cemetery.
