Odell McKinney, 96, a life-long resident of De Leon, went home to join her Lord Thursday, August 21, 2014. She was born November 9, 1917, in De Leon, to Jack Otwell and Luvena Pierce Otwell.
Odell was a long-time member of Assembly of God Church of De Leon. She was a faithful servant to her church and to her Lord. She was disciplined in studying her bible and reading scripture was her favorite activity. She retired from De Leon as the city secretary after many years of dedicated service and was a devoted homemaker to her family. She was a kind spirited woman and was loved by all who were blessed to have known her.
She is survived by her son, Max McKinney and his wife, Lynda, of Abilene; sisters, Juanita Otwell and LoRee Stokes; brothers, Corbett Otwell and wife, Beverly; nieces, Cindy, Adonna and Renita; nephews, Dennis, Ken and Edward; other extended family and a host of loving friends. Odell has gone home to join her parents; and brothers, Delbert Otwell and Finis Otwell.
Funeral services were held August 23, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at Nowlin Anders Funeral home with Rev. Ken Otwell and Dr. Adonna Otwell officiating. Graveside services followed in De Leon Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Tim Matthews, George Froneberger, Dennis Otwell, Frank Zeitler, Daron Otwell and Gene Bingham.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions may be made to Meals for Seniors at 133 North Ballpark Loop, De Leon, Texas 76444, in memory of Odell.
