Roger D. Shupp, 72, passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2017, in Abilene.
He was born August 23, 1944, in Gorman to Walter Effort Shupp and Lela Pearl Elliott Shupp. Roger married Bessie Rainey September 1, 1962.
Roger lived in the De Leon community his entire life. He was employed with Birdsong Peanuts in Gorman for over 45 years and retired as a manager for them. He loved ranching cattle and working. Roger also enjoyed collecting coins. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend and neighbor. He loved to spend time with his family and especially his grandchildren and great-grand boys. He will be missed beyond measure by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his son, Judson Shupp and wife, Bridget; daughter, Kristi Shupp; grandchildren, Brice Shupp and wife, Amanda, Michaela Burns, Cameron Shupp, Candice Shupp and Lyndi Shupp; great-grand boys, Mason Oxford, Weston Shupp and Shooter Wilson. Roger was preceded in death by his loving wife, Bessie Rainey Shupp; parents, Walter and Lela Shupp; brother, Murdell Shupp; sisters, Azilee Gilcrest, Juanda Bibby, Betty Richards and LaQuita Hudson.
Graveside funeral services were held Friday, February 10, 2017, at 4:00 p.m. in Downing Cemetery with Brother Denver Rainey officiating.
