Rollie T.
Coleman
Mar 6, 1947 — Feb 6, 2023
Rollie T. Coleman, 75, a longtime resident of De Leon, Texas went to be with his Lord and Savior February 6, 2023, in Coleman, Texas. He was born March 6, 1947, in Menomonie, Wisconsin to Lee and Gloria Lahner Coleman. Rollie was the sixth of fourteen children and proudly grew up on a dairy farm with Holstein cows.
Rollie moved to De Leon, Texas in the early 1980's and purchased The Dairy Treat from his wife's family. He soon officially renamed the business Rollie's on Texas. For decades, Rollie's was a hometown gathering place for hand dipped corndogs and other signature treats that Rollie would personally cook up for his customers. Patrons were sure to receive a kind smile or wave from the kitchen from Rollie. He was a friendly and outgoing man who was always happy to help give back to the community as he was able. When he wasn't serving up a delicious burger, you could probably find him on the golf course. He loved golfing and would go any time he had spare time. He also enjoyed traveling the United States with family, carpentry work, mechanic work, and tinkering with just about anything. His children considered him a talented man of all trades. Rollie is a longtime member of De Leon First Baptist Church.
Rollie's wife and mother to his children, Terrie Sue Coleman, passed in 2013 after her brave battle with leukemia and subsequent stem cell/bone marrow transplant complications. Rollie later married Susan Delaine Awbrey Pugliese in 2015. They enjoyed several years of companionship until Susan passed away following a vehicle accident in 2018. Rollie continued running Rollie's on Texas until he was no longer able to do so in 2021, finally stepping away from the business and community he loved dearly.
Rollie leaves behind a loving legacy in his family. He is survived by his children born to his marriage with Terrie: Rollie Coleman II (Olevia), Russell Coleman (Heather), and Royal Coleman (Amanda); daughter, Ruth Grumbles (Joshua); his children born to his first marriage to Diane Fisher of Minnesota: Richard Coleman, and Tracy Lindstrom (Tim); grandchildren, Anastasia, Rollie III, Natasha, Joshua II, Brody, Russell II, Noah, Ginger, Riley, and Dallas; brothers, Roger, Reuben, and Reggie; sisters, Mary, Marlys, Maureen, Melody, and Michelle; numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family. Rollie was preceded by his parents, Lee and Gloria; wife, Terrie; wife, Susan; and son, Michael Coleman; and numerous siblings.
Funeral services were held Sunday, February 12, 2023, at 2:30 p.m. at De Leon First Baptist Church with Brother Paul Winegeart officiating. Interment followed in De Leon Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Rollie Coleman II, Russell Coleman, Royal Coleman, Clay Coan, Russell Coleman II, and Joshua Grumbles II. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Muscular Dystrophy Association ( www.mda.org ), a cause dear to Rollie.
