Obituary

Roy Dale Freeman, 73, of De Leon, went home to his Lord and Savior September 19, 2017, with his loving family and dear friends by his side. He was born December 19, 1943, in Gorman, Texas to Elbert Wade Freeman and Ona Dean Coan Freeman.

Roy Dale was a faithful member of Fair Haven Baptist Church of De Leon. Roy Dale graduated from De Leon High School in 1962. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Baylor University. After a long career with Central Freight Lines, he pursued a second career in the insurance industry. After retirement, Roy Dale returned home to De Leon after living in the Waco area for many years. Roy Dale was an extremely gifted, self-taught musician. He had a deep love of music, singing, and playing guitar, piano, and many other instruments. He also enjoyed writing music and leaves his family with many of his own beautiful songs to cherish. Roy Dale was a life-long learner, especially in history, natural gardening, and Spanish. He loved De Leon Nursing Home where he gained so many loving friendships. He was a tireless volunteer even before he joined his friends as a resident. He was a loving father, and will be missed immeasurably by his family and many dear friends.

He is survived by his daughters, Kayla Daniel and husband, Joe, Kelly Holecek and husband, Nathan, and Kristi Blair and Shane Niblack; sister, Wynona Lee; grandchildren, Amanda Fullerton and fiancee Nate Reid, Ashley Fullerton, Hayley Wollard and husband Cory, Jessica Helfers and husband Matt, Christina Holecek, Kyle Holecek, Alex Dominguez, Ericka Alaman, Patricia Cook and husband John, Samuel Blair, and Brandi Blair; eleven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family. Roy Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert and Ona Dean Freeman; three grandchildren, Logan Fullerton, Bradley Bottoms, and Megan Dominguez; two brothers, Wade Dean Freeman and Alan Gale Freeman; one niece, Kimberly Lee; and the mother of his children, Patricia Freeman Smith.

Funeral services were held Friday, September 22, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. at Fair Haven Baptist Church with Brother Kenneth Wilson and Brother Pat Cummings officiating. Graveside services followed in De Leon Cemetery.
