Roy Leon Johnson, 81, of Desdemona, Texas passed from this life on Tuesday, February 14, 2023. He was born March 3, 1941, in Gorman, Texas to Doyl and Lucille Carter Johnson. He married Charlotte Loveless on July 24, 1964, and they were happily married for 58 years.

Roy graduated from Desdemona High School Class of 1959 and then attended and graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture. He was a long-time peanut farmer, cattle rancher, and owner and operator of Johnson Seed and Fertilizer. Roy served the community on the De Leon School Board and served six years on the Farm Bureau Board of Directors of Texas. He donated the land and led in the construction of the Desdemona Activity Center.

Upon retirement, he and Charlotte were blessed to buy a house on Possum Kingdom Lake and enjoyed lots of time with their family out on the lake fishing, boating, and skiing. These days were Roy's happiest as he loved to be outdoors. They also enjoyed RV'ing, traveling, and cheering on their grandchildren in all their endeavors. Roy and Charlotte have been dedicated members of the Desdemona Church of Christ for 51 years. He was a loving husband, a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a special friend to many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte; son, Brad Johnson and wife Angela; daughter, Kristi Adams and husband Todd; grandchildren, Brittan Johnson and wife Alex, Dalton Johnson and wife Shelby, Dillon Johnson, and Allissa Adams-Lane; great-grandchildren, Finn Johnson, Shep Johnson, Barrett Johnson, Lydia Johnson, and Paisley Lane; numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family. Roy was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Paul Johnson, Clyde Johnson, and Donal Ray Johnson; sister-in-law, Roberta (Bert) Johnson; and nephew, Brentley (Brent) Johnson.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Desdemona Church of Christ with Dalton Johnson and Ken Frazier officiating. Interment followed in Howard Cemetery.
