Roy Raymond
Kubiak
Apr 23, 1953 — Jun 19, 2022
Roy Raymond Kubiak passed June 19, 2022, with his family by his side at home exactly where he wanted to be. He was born in Chilton, Texas on April 23, 1953, to Bill and Victoria Kubiak. Roy had a large family; he was number four of eleven children.
As a young child they moved around and finally landed in Clifton, Texas where he met his high school sweetheart, love of his life, and wife Donna K. Hampe. He graduated from Clifton High School in 1972. During this time, he spent a great deal of time working for Buck and Charlotte Lively who were like parents to him.
In 1974, he joined the academy for The Department of Public Safety and graduated June 7, 1974, becoming a Texas State Trooper. On June 15, 1974, he married Donna Hampe and they were blessed with three children, Jennifer Kay Kubiak Darden, Wayne Bryan Kubiak, and Clint Jason Kubiak. They raised their family in De Leon, building their final home there outside of town, where his wife still resides.
In 1986 he left DPS and purchased the peanut dryer in Granbury, Texas. He loved his new adventure and the customers that came with it. He loved it so much, he went on to buy peanut buying points in Proctor, Richland Springs, Dublin, and Wellington. In 1997, he sold out his shares in Wellington and spent the rest of this time raising cattle and welding. If there was one thing he was not scared of, it was hard work. A quality he made sure to instill in his own children.
There was nothing more Roy loved than spending time with his wife and family. He especially loved his grandkids, teaching them how something worked, how it grew, or what you could do with it. He loved that his grandkids shared his love of hunting and fishing but enjoyed watching them all play together more than anything. He even taught them all how to play 42. Roy believed in hard work, second chances, and had a heart of gold. There wasn't anything he wouldn't do to help a friend in need.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Victoria Kubiak; brother, Christopher Kubiak; nephew, Christopher; niece, Brittany; parents-in-law, Oscar and Jewel Hampe; and brother-in-law, Lloyd Hampe; and nephew, Chris.
He is survived by his loving wife of forty-eight years, Donna; daughter, Jennifer and husband, Patrick; son, Wayne and wife Karrie; son, Clint and wife, Brenda; grandkids, Cooper and McCrae Darden and Callie and Brent Kubiak; brother, Bill and wife, Reiko, Freddie, Leon and wife, and Raymond; sisters, Ann, Patsy and husband, Marvin, Margaret, Beatrice, and Lucille; and in-laws, Dale Hampe and wife, Julie, and Donna Hampe.
Memorial services celebrating Roy's life were held Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at De Leon First United Methodist Church with Don Hanson officiating.
