Obituary

Sammie "Sam" Glen Scott passed away peacefully on May 5, 2017 in De Leon, TX after a 10 year battle with Parkinson's and leukemia. He was born on December 20, 1946 in Gorman, TX to JB and Fanny Mae Dupriest Scott.

Sam earned a Master's in Education and taught industrial arts for several years in Irving, TX. He then went on to start his own custom furniture Business and spent many years pursuing his love of collecting antiques. Needing a sense of home, Sam moved back to the family farm upon his illness diagnosis in 2007. He has spent the last 10 years among his family and friends in the community that he loved.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Linda Scott Butts and brother-in-law Gary Townsend Butts both of Brownwood, TX. He is survived by his nephew James Butts of Brownwood, TX and Shanna Hendrix of Austin, TX.

Special thanks to Larry and Brenda Holland for the love and friendship given to our uncle. They have been the example of what true friendship means. We also would like to acknowledge Girling Health Care in Brownwood for the excellent care Sam's attendants provided him in these final years. This enabled Sam to remain in his home until his health recently declined.

Memorial services were held Saturday, May 20, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at Nowlin Anders Funeral Home, De Leon, with Jeff Burnett officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Humane Society.
