Obituary

Shane Parker, age 50, of De Leon, Texas, passed from this life on November 21, 2013.

Shane was born at the Gorman Hospital to Jimmy M. Parker and Martha Lou Hamrick Parker.

Shane went to school in De Leon and, except for occasional absences related to work, lived in De Leon his entire life. Shane worked for various cattle buyers through the years as an order buyer. He especially enjoyed the time he spent as a working cowboy on the Y-O Ranch in the hill country west of Kerrville, Texas. He met many friends while working there, including Ace Reed, who was known through his "Cowpokes" cartoons.

Shane is survived by his parents, Jim and Martha Parker; one brother, Kent Parker and wife, Suzanne Parker, of Acton, Texas; nephews, Caulder Wade Parker and Jakoby Kent Parker; niece, McCrae Parker; and great niece and great nephew, Harper Parker and Lyric Shane Parker, all of Granbury.

Shane never met a dog or other animal he didn't like and was well known for bringing home animals he had found dumped along roads and highways.

Shane donated his earthly body to UT Southwestern Medical Center in the hope of helping to advance medical science and improve the human condition.

A memorial service honoring Shane's life was held Saturday, November 23, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at Nowlin Anders Funeral Home. Brother Kenneth Wilson officiated the service and Shane's friend, David Stokes, shared remembrances. Beautiful music was provided by Shane's nephews and niece, Caulder Parker, Jakoby Parker and McCrea Parker.

If desired, memorial contributions can be directed to the De Leon Ministerial Alliance at 140 CR 449, De Leon, Texas 76444, in memory of Shane Parker.
