Obituary

SHIRLEY WEATHERLY SHARP

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 1, 2019. Born on June 27, 1936 just outside of Panhandle, Texas where she grew up.

After graduating from Panhandle High School in 1954, she attended West Texas State University. She graduated in 1958 with a degree in Education. On February 15, 1964, Shirley married Grady 'Buddy' Sharp. She was a Kindergarten, 2 nd Grade, and Special Education teacher in the Texas school systems for 29 years and helped countless children learn to read – many of which had learning disabilities. Being the wife of a high school football and track coach, they moved often and lived in many Texas cities including Olton, Sunray, Dalhart, De Leon, Clarendon, Cisco, and Morton.

Shirley loved gardening, shopping, traveling, reading, volunteering and loving on her five grandchildren. She watched more football games, basketball games, and track meets than anyone should have to but she was always there rain, shine, sleet or snow. Shirley and Buddy enjoyed the mountains and the outdoors – specifically Ruidoso, NM, and Lake City, CO. She had the ability to see beauty in everything and will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her father Luther "Dick" Boles Weatherly, her mother Beta Knapp Weatherly, son Trigg Hamilton Sharp, and daughter Elizabeth Anne Sharp. She is survived by her brother, Howard 'Red' Weatherly, husband of 55 years, Buddy, two sons Trent Sharp (wife Shannon) and Clay Sharp (wife Jennifer) and five grandchildren – Jackson, Cade, Caroline, Canon, and Landon, plus numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the caregivers at Vitas Hospice and Atria Senior Living of Carrollton who helped to make the final chapter of her life so precious.
