Sonnie Setzler Daniels, 96, of De Leon, went home to her Lord and Savior Saturday, January 24, 2015, with her family by her side.
She was born October 31, 1918, in De Leon to Clyde and Alma Parks Setzler. She married A.D. "Grandpa" Daniels April 10, 1936 in De Leon.
Sonnie lived in the De Leon Community all of her life. She was a long time member of St. Joe Baptist Church. She worked at the De Leon Hospital as a nurse for over twenty years. She enjoyed camping with her family and many friends, crocheting, cooking, gardening and canning. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was dearly loved by all who knew her and will be missed beyond measure.
She is survived by her daughter, Nelda Pittman and husband, Joe; grandchildren, Connie Pittman and James Pittman; great-grandchildren, Mechelle Martin and husband, Josh, Daniel Pittman and wife, Megan, Kelvin Kolb and wife, Kelley, Kori Kolb, Kolton Pittman, Konner Pittman and Tricia Rakowska and husband, Doug; 9 great-grandchildren; sisters, Jean Westmoreland and Linda Hall; brothers, Curly Setzler and wife, Saundra, Wayne Setzler and wife, Jeri, and Donald Setzler and wife, Thelma; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Scitern, Dorothy Goates, Frances Skaggs and husband, Lee; and numerous nieces and nephews; and other extended family.
Sonnie was preceded in death by her husband, A.D. "Grandpa" Daniels; parents, Clyde and Alma Parks Setzler; grandsons, Scotty Pittman and Randy Pittman; sister, Inez Roberson; brother, Arvil Setzler; brothers-in-law, Bernice Daniels, Gilbert Daniels, Melvin Daniels, Kenneth Hall, Fuzzy Roberson, Euel Westmoreland and Billy Bingham; and sisters-in-law, Merna Vee Setzler and Wanda Bingham.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 27, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Joe Baptist Church with Brother Jackie Auvenshine and Brother Ben Hokanson officiating. Graveside services followed in De Leon Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Doug Rakowska, Harland Westmoreland, James Pittman, Konner Pittman, Jim Elliott and Arnold Blaylock. Honorary pallbearers were Daniel Pittman, Kelvin Kolb, Harold Nabors and Kolton Pittman.
