Stella (Stewart) Lane, 77, a longtime resident of De Leon, peacefully passed from this life with her family by her side in the early morning hours of Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at her home. She was born January 4, 1946, in Gorman, Texas to Fisher Stewart and Alva Oleta Power Stewart. Stella married her loving husband of fifty-nine years, Dewaine Lane, on May 23,1964 one day after her high school graduation.

Stella graduated from De Leon High School Class of 1964 and was a dedicated homemaker for her family. She was a lifelong Bearcat fan and loved basketball. She and Dewaine are long time members of De Leon Church of Christ. Stella enjoyed many hobbies including quilting, shopping for her grandchildren, camping, and collecting music boxes and chime clocks. Stella adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were her greatest joy in life, and she was a very special grandmother to each of them. Stella loved family gatherings and being with her loved ones. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be missed beyond measure by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband, Dewaine Lane; children, Colette Koffel (Mitch Koffel), of Waco, and Grady Lane (Shelley Lane), of Clovis, CA; grandchildren, Randall Lewis, Garrett Lane (Rachel Lane), Grant Lane (Jackie Lee), Gavin Lane, Shelby Damiani ( Jeff Damiani), and Kristin Chao (Zhiyi Chao); great-grandchildren, Daxter Lewis, Kiari Lewis, and Blake Lewis; niece, Tammy Smitherman; nephew, Rick Smitherman (Janelle Smitherman); and other extended family. Stella has been reunited with her parents, Fisher and Oleta Stewart; grandparents, Bud and Tilly Power; sister, Nancy Smitherman, and brother, Morgan Stewart.

A celebration of Stella's life was held Saturday, April 29, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Church of Christ (Hwy 6) with Minister Rick Smitherman officiating. Stella was laid to rest in Comanche Gardens of Memory Cemetery. The family requests memorial contributions be made in memory of Stella to the DeLeon Church of Christ (PO Box 365, De Leon, Texas 76444) or to the America Heart Association (7272 Greenville Ave., Dallas, Texas 75231).
