Susan Delaine
Coleman
Aug 2, 1968 — Dec 17, 2018
Susan Delaine Coleman, 50, of DeLeon, died Monday, December 17 following a traffic accident on TX Hwy. 16 in northern Comanche County.
Susan was born August 2, 1968 in Lubbock, TX to Gary and Jeanette Awbrey. She grew up in Brownfield, and graduated from Brownfield High School in 1986.
She married the late Edward Brett Pugliese of Cisco in 1992, and married, secondly, Rollie Coleman of DeLeon in 2015.
She studied communications at South Plains College, attended Texas Tech University, and graduated with her bachelor's degree in social work from Tarleton State University in 2008.
Susan was the weekly newspaper reporter for the South Palo Pinto Mountain Echo, covering the communities of Strawn, Gordon, and Mingus for the past four years. In this, she was recognized by the Texas Association of School Boards as a member of the Media Honor Roll for her supportive journalism in the interest of public education.
Her greatest joys included seeing the young people of Strawn and Gordon schools succeed in all their endeavors. She was truly excited by all their accomplishments and was proud of all the effort that they put forward to be successful.
She also enjoyed quilting, cross stitching, and gospel music, and created many unique and artful examples of her craft.
Susan loved her family above all other earthly things. She was a lifelong Baptist, and now is at home with her Lord.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ray and Opal Hughlett of Brownfield and Marvin and Opal Awbrey of Levelland; and by a husband, Edward Brett Pugliese of Cisco.
She is survived by her husband Rollie Coleman of DeLeon; her parents Gary and Jeanette Awbrey of Brownfield; brother and sister-in-law Jon and Sarah Awbrey of DeLeon; nephew Ian Caldwell of DeLeon; stepchildren Ruth and Joshua Grumbles of DeLeon, Royal and wife Amanda Coleman of Waxahachie, Russell and wife Heather Coleman of Brownwood, and Rollie Coleman, Jr., and wife Olevia, formerly of Deleon. Grandchildren include Natasha, Joshua II, and Brody Grumbles, Riley and Dallas Coleman, Anastasia and Rollie Coleman III, Noah, Ginger and Russell Coleman II.
Funeral services were Thursday, December 20, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Deleon with Brother Daniel Harper officiating.
A graveside service will take place later next week at the Old Brownfield Cemetery in Brownfield.
In lieu of flowers, please honor her memory with a gift to your favorite children's charity or other charity of your choice.
