Obituary

Terry Clyde Hodges, 76, passed peacefully from this life January 3, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. His long, hard-fought battle with cancer has come to an end and Terry can now see and feel God's eternal victory. He is now fully restored in the presence of his Savior. He was born February 7, 1947, in Gorman, Texas to Clyde and Selma (Sides) Hodges. Terry married his loving wife, Susan Morris, on May 1, 1970. They were blessed with a loving marriage of fifty-three years.

Terry was raised in De Leon and graduated with the De Leon High School Class of 1965. Shortly after high school, Terry enlisted in the United States Navy where he would serve three deployments to Vietnam as a PBR River Boat Gunner. After four years of dedicated active service, Terry was transferred to the Naval Reserve where he stood willing and ready to serve again should he be needed. He was a proud and selfless United States Veteran and loved his country dearly. Once he returned home, Terry and Susie were married and began to build their family. Over the years, Terry was employed with De Leon Peanut Company, worked for offshore oil rigs, Higginbotham Brothers, and ultimately retired from Totelcom after almost twenty years of loyalty working in their parts purchasing department.

Terry was a member of Round Grove Baptist Church and attended First Baptist Church with his wife Susie. Terry enjoyed many hobbies in his spare time. He loved to golf and always thought a bad day on the course was much better than no day on the course. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors. Terry enjoyed his De Leon class reunions and visiting with his many lifelong friends. He was a devoted husband, attentive and loving father, special Pa Hodges, and loving neighbor and friend to so many. He will be missed beyond measure by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived his wife, Susan Hodges; daughter, Jessica Dyson; son, Talmage Hodges and wife, Blakeney; grandchildren, Sierra Dyson, Ethan Dyson, Rylan Laminack, Sadie Hodges, Taylor Hodges, and Hayes Hodges; brother, Mick Hodges; sisters, Linda Teague and Elizabeth Sharp; many nieces, nephews, his loyal dog Oscar and other extended family. Terry has been reunited with his parents, Clyde and Selma Hodges; and brothers, Talmage Hodges, Glen Hodges, Wayland Hodges, Bob Hodges, and Robert Hodges.

Funeral services celebrating Terry's life were held Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at De Leon First Baptist Church with Brother Paul Winegeart officiating and Mark Beaty assisting. Graveside committal, with United States Navy Honors, followed in De Leon Cemetery.
