Obituary

Thomas "Tommy" Wade Hudson, 54, a lifelong resident of De Leon, passed from this life at his home on March 2, 2025, with his loving family surrounding him. He is now peacefully at rest in the presence of his Lord and Savior. After a long and courageous health battle, Tommy has defeated cancer and has inherited an eternity with no more ailments.

Tommy was born May 26, 1970, in Austin, Texas to Don Robert Hudson and Ada Thomas Hudson. He was raised in De Leon and graduated with the De Leon Class of 1988. He married his loving wife, Darla Beth Seckinger on May 26, 2013. Tommy was a long-time peanut grader and most recently worked with Stockman Feed and Fertilizer as an equipment operator.

He and Darla are long time members of Comyn Baptist Church. Tommy absolutely loved his church family and the many special relationships he had with them. Tommy embodied the true meaning of a good friend. He was honest, loyal, selfless, fun, and committed. He never met a stranger and would leave any event with at least a handful of new friends. He was outgoing and could light up any room with his positive energy. Tommy had a true servant heart. Anyone in need of anything, whether he knew them or not, Tommy would bless with his generosity. He was kind, encouraging, and wanted his friends and family to be happy.

His greatest passion in life was supporting the De Leon Livestock Association and many of the community show kids every year. He was partial to show hogs but supported all the youth in their show projects. He also enjoyed coaching little league. Tommy loved to spend time outdoors fishing, hunting, and just taking in God's beauty. He enjoyed playing cards and was certain to find the dance floor anytime a good song came on.

Above all else, Tommy loved the Lord. He sincerely wanted to make sure that everyone he knew had the opportunity to know God. He was faithful in his discipleship and felt called to share God's love with anyone who crossed his path. His family was the center of his life. His grandchildren brought him immense joy and boy did they know how much Pops loved them! Tommy was a devoted and loyal husband to Darla, selfless dad and Pops, loving son and brother, and a one-of-a-kind uncle to his nephews and nieces.

If you were blessed to know Tommy, you know how truly special he was. He lived his life in the service of others, always trying to make someone else's day better. Always trying to lift others and make sure they knew they mattered and were loved. What a testament to a special guy to have left such an impression on the lives of those he cared about. He will be missed beyond measure, but his family takes comfort in knowing that he is at peace and pain free dancing the streets of gold in Heaven and casting a line beside his creator.

Tommy is survived by his loving wife, Darla Hudson; son, Johnny Hall and wife, Victoria; daughters, Brittany Hudson and Allison Hall; grandchildren, Pandora, Jax, and Rixton; mother, Ada Hudson; brothers, Robert Hudson and Clayton Hudson and wife, Jill; parents-in-law, Ray and Lois Seckinger; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John Mart and Tisha Stephens; numerous nephews, nieces, other extended family; and many special friends. He has been reunited with his dad, Don Hudson; and grandparents, Robert and Eloise Hudson and Bill and Pearl Thomas.

Tommy loved so many people and had so many enduring friendships. He would want you each to know how much he loved you and what a difference you made in his life by loving him and supporting his family throughout the past several years. Please know the Hudson family appreciates each one of you for your selfless acts of kindness. Our family has felt each and every prayer, and we're certain Tommy is beaming with joy because of the life he was blessed to live and the people he was blessed to have known and loved.

Funeral services celebrating Tommy's life were held March 6, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, De Leon, with Brother Ray Seckinger officiating. Interment followed in Comyn Cemetery.
