Obituary

Toby Lee Morris, 57, of De Leon, went home to his Lord and Savior Monday, July 31, 2017, with his loving family by his side. He was born October 31, 1959, in De Leon to James Curtis Morris and Nettie Lou Stone. Toby married his devoted wife of 36 years, Julia Iley, October 18, 1980, at Gorman First Baptist Church.

Toby began his faith journey when he was baptized at Comyn Baptist Church. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Gorman. Toby grew up in De Leon, and graduated from De Leon High School in 1978. He was proud to have been a part of the 1975 De Leon Bearcat State Championship football team. His love for De Leon Bearcat football ran deep. He was a fixture on the sidelines at all the home games running chains for twenty years. Toby was also a champion skeet shooter, who won numerous awards including plaques, trophies and guns. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing for crappie along the banks of the Leon River, and multiple annual fishing trips with friends and family for all types of fresh and saltwater species. Toby enjoyed hunting deer, dove, and quail. One of his favorite hobbies was riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle with Julia and his S.B.C. motorcycle club brothers and sisters.

While Toby had many hobbies he loved in life, his greatest love was his family. He was a devoted husband, supportive father, doting grandfather, loyal son, brother, friend and neighbor. He will be immensely missed by all who loved him. His life on earth was full of adventure and love and it was undoubtedly a life well lived.

He leaves behind a loving legacy including his wife, Julia; son, Christopher Lee Morris and wife, Lynze; daughter, Whitney Dawn Kloesel and husband, Joe Thomas; grandchildren, Kelton Pierce Morris and Ella Bell Morris; father, James Curtis Morris and wife, Alliece; mother, Nettie Lou Stone and husband, Ray; brothers, Allen Stone and wife, Chrisann, Shane Stone and wife, Kelly, Casey Stone, and Cody Morris and wife, Sandy; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

Toby was preceded in death by his grandmother, Lu Ella Morris; grandfather, J.B. Morris; and brother, Jody Morris.

Funeral services were held Saturday, August 5, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at Gorman First Baptist Church with Brother Barry Schahn officiating. Graveside services followed in Comyn Cemetery.
