Tommy Newton Hood, 83, of Fort Worth, passed away Saturday, July 16, 2016, in Fort Worth, Texas, with his family by his side.
He was born March 22, 1933, in Dublin, Texas, to Aubrey and Dolores Hood. Tommy was married to his loving wife, Reta, for 59 years. They were married at the Church of Christ in Downing, Texas, on April 28, 1957. Tommy was a long time member of the Church of Christ. He graduated from Comyn High School in Comyn, Texas. Tommy is a veteran of the United States Navy and served in the Korean War, stationed for two years on the U.S.S. Chipola in 1952 and 1953.
Tommy was a very loving and considerate husband, father, and grandfather. He will also be remembered as a very special brother, brother-in-law, and uncle. He had a great zest for life and his family was his pride and joy. Tommy worked for and retired from Stratoflex Inc. in Fort Worth. He enjoyed his home on Eagle Mountain Lake and took pride in maintaining his home and yard. He loved flowers and building things to share with family and friends. Tommy leaves a legacy of family values, Christian morals, and love for everyone. He was a kind and pleasant man who always had a hug and a smile to offer.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Reta Richmon Hood; son, Lee Hood and wife, Colleen, of Benbrook; daughter, Mary Ann Smith and husband, Nick, of Azle; granddaughter, Sierra St.Valentine and husband, Stephen, of Fort Worth; siblings, Tex Hood, Ted Hood, Twyla Coan, Trudy Bolling, Tony Hood, Tyke Hood and Troy Hood; numerous nieces and nephews; and other extended family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Aubrey and Dolores Hood.
Graveside funeral services were held Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. in Proctor Cemetery with Minister David Westbrook officiating.
