Obituary

Troy Barker, 91, a life-long resident of De Leon, passed away Saturday, September 27, 2014. He was born October 22, 1922, in Comanche County to Walter and Effie Barker.

Troy was a member of First Baptist Church of De Leon. He worked in the ranching and farming business his entire life. He farmed peaches, peanuts and pecans. He owned his own peach operation outside of De Leon but also worked for Smith's Peach Orchard from the mid 1960's until 1995. He loved working and was even able to help his son, Dale, with his farming business until just recently.

He is survived by his son, Dale Barker; step-son, Stephen Gregory; step-daughters, Carolyn Gilmore and Jay Beth Gregory; grandchildren, Dayla Barker, Mandy Barker, Angela Barker and Brandon McDonald; great-grandchildren, Kaiden Griffith, Skylar Barker, Xander Sanchez, Ally McDonald and Wes McDonald; brother, L.G. Barker; numerous nieces and nephews; and other extended family. Troy has gone home to join his first wife, Audnia; second wife, Geraldine; sisters, Thelma Dyson and Vera Joiner; and brothers, Elton Barker and Felton Barker.

Graveside funeral services were held Monday, September 29, 2014, at 3:00 p.m. in De Leon Cemetery with Brother Jackie Auvenshine officiating.
