Uarda is survived by her husband of 72 years, L.G.; son, Gary Barker and wife, Linda, of Lake Limestone, Texas; daughter, Linda Barker Smith of De Leon; daughter, Jamie Harper and husband, Johnie, of Ft. Worth; grandchildren, Fred McCarty and wife, Julie, of Grapevine, Garrett Barker and wife, Rachael, of Rockdale, Texas, Harrold McCarty and wife, Kelly, of De Leon, Amanda Gilmore and husband, Brandon, of De Leon, Christie Owen and husband, Richard, of De Leon, Warren McCarty of De Leon, Caycee Richardson and wife, Tonya, of Glen Rose; 11 great-grandkids; a host of nieces and nephews; and many loving friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Jay, Glen, Adell, Neil; and 1 grandchild, Kari Lea Barker.

Uarda was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of De Leon. She enjoyed teaching Sunday School Classes for over fifty years. She was a talented seamstress whose garments were sewn with love in every stitch. Uarda was an avid reader and enjoyed listening to music, especially Gospel music. Her family was her pride and joy. She delighted in spending time with her family. She and L.G. opened their farm to so many family gatherings throughout the years. On any given holiday it would be nothing to have twenty or more cousins staying there. During those times there was likely to be peas shelled, dove or quail being hunted, or ice cream being churned all to the tune of grandkids picking guitars. Uarda loved to travel. One of her favorite destinations was the beach. She left a legacy of family values, Christian morals and love for everyone.

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 9, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at De Leon First Baptist Church with Brother Daniel Harper officiating. Uarda was laid to rest in De Leon Cemetery.

If desired, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church care of the youth fund.
