Velma Joyce Chupp, 82, of De Leon went home to her Lord and Savior Saturday, February 15, 2020. She was born October 7, 1937, in Gorman, Texas to G.B. Kimmell and Myrtle Dillard Kimmell. She married Thurman "Tooter" Chupp on December 21, 1979, in Las Vegas.

Joyce lived in De Leon most all of her life other than several years that she lived in the metroplex area. She worked at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in DFW for fifteen years. She then went to work as a nurse in the medical field in the metroplex and later moved back home to De Leon and worked in the Gorman Clinic and De Leon Hospital until her retirement.

She was a life time active member of Fair Haven Baptist Church (formerly De Leon Primitive Baptist Church) in De Leon. She loved her church and her church family very much. She was a resident of De Leon Nursing Home for many years and she loved her many dear friends there. Joyce enjoyed reading, coloring, painting, and watching old movies. She was an extremely talented painter and left her family many wonderful pieces to enjoy. Joyce will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her son, Bart Belyeu; daughter, Rita Belyeu; grandchildren, Chad Belyeu, Katy and Will Robinet, and Lane Chupp; numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tooter Chupp in 2004; parents, G.B. and Myrtle Kimmell; brother, Wesley Kimmell; sisters, Mona Kimmell Thomas, Wilma Wilhite, Loyce Wofford, Wanda Spencer, and Luetta Coan.

Graveside funeral services were Monday, February 17, 2020, at 2 p.m. in De Leon Cemetery with Brother Kenneth Wilson officiating. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the De Leon Animal Shelter.
