Verba Lee Seale, 87, of De Leon, formerly of Abilene, passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2017, in De Leon.
She was born January 24, 1930, in Archer County, Texas to Frank Knight Jones and Ruth Marie Coulter Jones. Verba married Billy Joe Seale December 19, 1950, in Holliday, Texas.
Verba lived in Abilene before moving to De Leon in 2013. She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church, Buffalo Gap. Verba was very social and enjoyed visiting with her family and many friends. She enjoyed crocheting and working word puzzles. Verba was a loving and devoted homemaker for her family. Her grandchildren were the light of her life and she was her happiest while spending time with them. She was a loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, friend and neighbor. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her two daughters, Mary Ann Vernon and husband, Dennis, and Betty Jean Joiner and husband, Dr. Stephen Joiner; grandchildren, David Joiner and wife, Mandi, Richard Vernon and wife, Caris, and Mary Beth Leach and husband, Justin; great-grandchildren, Brynn Leach, Sadie Leach, Paisley Vernon and Pierce Vernon; numerous nieces and nephews; and other extended family.
Verba was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Joe Seale; parents, Frank and Ruth Jones; sister, Dessie Hurt; brother, Sam (Buddy) Jones; twin sister, Hazel Carr; and granddaughter, Debra Jean Joiner.
Graveside funeral services were held Friday, July 21, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. in Crestview Memorial Park Cemetery, Wichita Falls, Texas, with son-in-law, Dr. Stephen Joiner officiating.
