Wanda Grisham Sparkman passed away April 30, 2016, at the age of 77. Wanda was born June 22, 1938, to the late Oscar Quinton and Eunice Jewel Grisham.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Thomas James Sparkman; daughter, Darlynn Horn (Jerry); sons, Thomas James Sparkman Jr. (Dana) and Scotty Jackson Sparkman (Irene); grandchildren, Karen Arnt (Jeff), Sheila Kowalewski (Jason), Rusty Hohlt (Jason), Johnathan Bairrington, Jody Price (Lee), Trey Sparkman (Kayci), Scott Sparkman, Shelby Welch (Michael), Emma Sparkman (Taylor) and Kaylee Sparkman; 10 great grandchildren; sister, Brenda Solomon (Sid); brothers, Jerry Grisham (Jan) and David Grisham (Wanda); and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews who were so precious to her.
Wanda retired in 1995 from Texas Instruments and spent her retirement focusing on two things that brought her great joy - family and books. She would often say "family is everything" and dedicated her life to family members of the present and honored those in the past by researching and documenting family genealogy. Wanda's love of family and books converged when she wrote and published a book about the Rock Bluff community with her brother Jerry. Twenty-five years of research and interviews on the foundation of the Rock Bluff community, it's church, cemetery, and people, resulted in a detailed historical reference for generations to come.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Diann Valenta; and granddaughter, Jaime Bairrington.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 am Wednesday, May 4th at the funeral home. Interment followed in Rock Bluff Cemetery near De Leon, Texas. Serving as pallbearers were Trey Sparkman, Johnathan Bairrington, Jason Kowalewski, Jason Hohlt, Lee Price, Garrett Richardson, Taylor Brown, Dean Thompson and Ethan Kowalewski.
If desired, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Rock Bluff Cemetery Association, 840 Burleson, De Leon, Texas 76444, in memory of Wanda.
