Wayne Setzler, 83, of De Leon, went home to his Lord and Savior Thursday, June 11, 2015.
He was born November 29, 1931, in Oliver Springs, Texas, to Clyde and Alma Parks Setzler. Wayne married Jeri Fields May 9, 1954, in Paducah, Texas.
Wayne was a long time member of St. Joe Baptist Church. After over three decades of dedicated service, Wayne retired from the United States Department of Agriculture as a USDA Milk Inspector. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean War.
Wayne had lived in the De Leon community all of his life other than during his military service and while he and Jeri lived in Clyde and Abilene for a combination of forty years. He enjoyed many hobbies including camping, whittling wood, and attending stock shows. He loved children and enjoyed his time spent in the dairy classroom. Wayne was especially proud of his family and he will be missed immensely by all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 61 years, Jeri Setzler; son, Montia Setzler and wife, Karen; daughter, Wanetha Gardner; daughter-in-law, Nancy Setzler; grandchildren, Andrea Macbeth and husband, Cameron, Adam Setzler and wife, Brianna, Ashley Setzler, Erin Denson, Lexie Setzler, Tori Setzler, Gracie Setzler and Chad Setzler; one great-grandchild, Jeremiah Setzler; siblings, Jean Westmoreland, Linda Hall, Curly Setzler and wife, Saundra, and Donald Setzler and wife, Thelma; numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family; and many dear friends.
Wayne has been reunited with his son, Brad Lesley Setzler; daughter, Dee Ann Setzler; grandson, Garren Denson; son-in-law, Mark Gardner; parents, Clyde and Alma Setzler; siblings, Inez Roberson and husband, Fuzzy, Arvil Setzler and wife, Merna Vee, and Sonnie Daniels and husband, A.D.; and brothers-in-law, Kenneth Hall and Euel Westmoreland.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 15, 2015, at 3:00 p.m. at St. Joe Baptist Church with Pastor Montia Setzler, Brother Jackie Auvenshine and Brother Ben Hokanson officiating. Military graveside services followed in Oliver Springs Cemetery.
