William (Bill)
Otis Cooper
Nov 23, 1930 — Jun 29, 2018
William (Bill) Otis Cooper, 87, of De Leon, passed away Friday, June 29, 2018. He was born November 23, 1930, in Sudan, Texas to Henry and Grace Cooper. Bill married his loving wife, Judy, January 19, 1985.
Bill and Judy moved to De Leon from Odessa in 1992. They had owned and operated West Texas Pipe and Steel in Odessa for many years and once settled in De Leon, they started a pipe and steel business here. They were members of St. Joe Baptist Church, De Leon. Almost always, wherever Bill was, so was Judy. They enjoyed being together and spending time at HWY 6 Café with their many De Leon friends. Bill had many hobbies including duck hunting, being outdoors and tending to their animals. He especially enjoyed working. While living in Odessa, Bill was an active member of the Odessa Chuck Wagon Gang (serving as Boss in 1985), an organization of community leaders who would travel near and far with their BBQ pits to serve large crowds while sharing the history of Odessa. He loved the OCWG organization and the lifelong friends he made through the organization. Bill was also a loving and devoted family man. He will be deeply missed by his family and the community of De Leon.
Surviving Bill are his children, Jack Cooper and wife, Sharon, and Cathy Harrington and husband, Alan; grandchildren, Joshua Cooper and wife, Elizabeth, Aimee Dobbins, Chris Harrington and wife, Leesa, Willy Harrington, Kara Meachum and husband, Scott, Jackson Cooper, Casondra Tidwell and husband, Paul, Jackie Cooper and wife, Ashley, Tosha Blancett and husband, Steven, Faith Hobbs and Daniel Hobbs; numerous great-grandchildren; brothers, Marshall Cooper and wife, Wanda, and Preasley Cooper and wife, Nancy; sister, Clara Barr; numerous nieces and nephews; and other extended family. Bill and Judy passed away together in a vehicle accident and today they remain at one another's side just as they would want to be.
