William Loyd Owen, 86, of Early, Texas peacefully passed from this life Tuesday, January 10, 2023, with his loving wife by his side. He was born July 4, 1936, in De Leon, Texas to William Thelbert (Sonny) Owen and Elsie V. Ross Owen. Loyd married his loving wife of sixty-one years, Beatrice Foster, on June 15, 1961.

Loyd was raised in De Leon and graduated from De Leon High School in 1955. He was a longtime truck driver and peanut farmer. He loved spending time outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a loving and devoted family man and special friend to many. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Beatrice; daughter, Melinda Gilbert; grandchildren, Laura, Felicite, and Levi; nephew and nieces (and special caregivers) Alan McLearen, Barbara Owen, and Debra Owen; other nieces and nephews; and other extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and two sisters.

Funeral services were held Friday, January 13, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Nowlin Anders Funeral Home. Interment followed in De Leon Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Jeremy Spencer, John Paul Spencer, Danny Owen, Wray Paul, Ronnie Snow and Levi. Honorary pallbearers were Norman Owen and Alan McLearen.
