Obituary

William Hadley Scott, Jr was born a seventh generation Texan on September 7, 1940 to William Hadley, Sr. and Allene Weaver Scott.

Hadley was preceded in death by father, William Hadley Scott, Sr.; mother, Allene Weaver Box,; step mother, Mary Scott; and step father, N.L Box.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy R. Scott; sisters, Rose Anne Scott of Houston and Laurie Mahaffey of Austin. He leaves behind three sons and one step daughter, Hadley Scott of De Leon, Bill Scott of Abilene, Mason Scott of North Richland Hills and D'Anna Roseberry of Rockwall.  Proverbs 17:6 says, "Grandchildren are the crown of the aged", this was certainly true of Hadley.  He joyfully loved spending time with his grandchildren:  Jessika, Stellina, Jano, Kaitlyn, Finja, Ella Grace, and Olivia Faith Scott. Also, grandsons, Jordan and Landon Roseberry and two great-granddaughters, Zoey Harding and Ryleigh Roseberry.

Hadley's long-time hobby was energetically searching for Spanish history and the Spanish trails of Texas. He began his quest as a young man after reading an article in a treasure magazine regarding Spanish trail markings near Cross Plains, Texas.  However, his true passion was being devoted to spending time with family and nurturing their hearts to always follow Christ.

Hadley and Nancy married February 22, 1963, and were married a few months short of fifty-seven great years. They lovingly built a life and home together starting in Texas, then a brief time in the military took them to New York, then finally back home to Texas.

While he was a man of varied interests, he was known for appreciating a funny joke (ones told to him and especially those invented by him), political memes and emails, a good crab cake, being an avid learner, two pocketed shirts, and an excellent chicken fried steak.   He will be missed by friends and family.

Funeral services celebrating Hadley's life were held Saturday, August 10, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. at De Leon First Baptist Church with Minister Rick Smitherman officiating. Hadley was laid to rest in De Leon Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Community Hospice of Texas at 6100 Western Place, Suite 105, Ft.Worth, Texas 76107 or donations may be made online at https://www.chot.org/about/donate-to-us/.
