Wilma Briscoe Keen, 100, of De Leon, went home to meet her Lord and Savior January 16, 2018. She was born July 20, 1917, in Moody, Texas to John Levin Briscoe and Cora Lee Mathis Briscoe. Wilma married Aaron Keen September 6, 1940, in Brownwood.
Wilma was long-time member of First United Methodist Church of De Leon. She was devoted to serving her Lord and loved her church family dearly. Wilma was an elementary school teacher for many years at Ysleta ISD in El Paso and she was the owner of two beauty shops before she became the Head of Cosmetology and instructor at Ysleta Vocational School, from which she retired. Wilma enjoyed playing bridge, 84 and golfing. She was also a great cook and enjoyed canning pickles and making relishes, jams and jellies. She and Aaron moved to Par Village in 1979 from El Paso and made their home there. She was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, sister and daughter. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her daughter, Kay Phillips and husband, Wayne, of Early; one grandson, Kenneth Phillips and wife Louise Phillips; great grandchildren, Thomas Phillips, Aaron Phillips, Tiffanie Alfafara and Ray Alfafara; and other extended family.
Wilma was preceded by her husband, Aaron; brothers, Bogue Briscoe, Jim Briscoe and Charlie Robert Briscoe; and sisters, Velma Conder, Zola Nelson, Lucille Coulter, Loraine Breazeale and Johnnye Van Hook.
A memorial service celebrating Wilm'a life was held Saturday, February 17, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, De Leon.
