Winford Winnell Lindley, 90, a lifelong resident of Desdemona, Texas passed from this life Tuesday, February 1, 2022. He was born October 12, 1931, in Desdemona to William Lindley and Lilly Kate Holland Lindley. Winford married his loving wife of sixty-four years, Elnora Phelps, on June 21, 1957, in De Leon.

Winford lived all his life in Desdemona, Texas other than his military service time and when he was employed in Electra, Texas in the oil field for Mobile. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1951 until 1955 during the Korean War. Winford retired from Mobile after many years of dedicated service. Back at home, Winford farmed to provide for his family. He loved to spend time outdoors hunting with his dogs and fishing with his grandchildren. He was always his happiest in the company of his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Winford was a loving husband, a wonderful dad and grandfather, and a loyal friend to so many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife, Elnora Lindley; daughters, Mitzi McGaha, and Kelley Carruth and husband, Jim; grandchildren, Cory Carruth and wife, Katie, Joshua Carruth and wife, Stormi, Lindsey McGaha, Ally Neslony and husband, Micah; and Macy McGaha; great-grandchildren, Pecos, Laiken, Avarie, Kye, Mesa, Owen, Krece, Hudson, and Hayden; numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family. Winford has been reunited with his daughter, Pamela; grandson, Cullen; and his parents.

Funeral services celebrating Winford's life were held Saturday, February 5, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Nowlin Anders Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Lisa Neslony officiating. Winford was laid to rest in Murray Memorial Cemetery in Carbon.
