Jack graduated from Desdemona High School in 1960. Jack commenced his Naval career in Dallas in 1962 and served all over the world until his distinguished military retirement in 1985. He received many accolades from the United States Navy including the Good Conduct Medal (with four bronze stars), Meritorious Unit Commendation, Joint Service Commendation and National Defense Service Medal, to name a few. His military service position was Programming Supervisor and Analyst, a responsibility he greatly enjoyed. Jack also received special service recognition from The State of Texas House of Representatives and the United States Flag flown over the Capitol on April 17, 1985, was presented to DPC Jack Rainey, U.S. Navy, for the special occasion of his retirement after serving twenty-three dedicated years of active service. Jack loved the opportunity he had to travel the world and see new places. He always told his family he would have loved to live his retired life in Alamogordo, NM - his favorite location of deployment.

After retirement from the Navy, Jack returned home to De Leon and went to work for Comanche Peak Power Plant in Glen Rose as a computer tech. He had a great passion for restoring old vehicles from top to bottom. Over the years, he restored many vintage cars and trucks that were in such a state of disrepair back to their original beautiful and pristine condition. Jack was a loving and devoted father, brother, son, uncle, and friend to many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
