Obituary

W.T. Yardley, 90, of Desdemona, went home to his Lord and Savior Friday, June 10, 2016, with his family by his side.

He was born October 27, 1925, in Lowell, Texas, to Sol and Mattie Ellison Yardley. W.T. married Evelyn Williams March 20, 1946 in Bula, Texas.

W.T. was a member of Desdemona First Baptist Church. He proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII and was stationed on the USS Manilla Bay. In his civilian life, W.T. was a truck mechanic employed by Ford dealerships and also Golden Peanut Company. He was a devoted family man. W.T.'s family was always his first priority . He was a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend. He will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 70 years, Evelyn Yardley; two sons, Darrell Gene Yardley and wife, Patricia, and Stephen Lynn Yardley; grandchildren, Christopher Yardley, Elian Tyson and husband, Bruce, Amy Sargent and husband, Derek, and Thomas Henry, all of South Carolina; great-grandchildren, Noelle Yardley, Arianna Yardley, Brandon Evans and Rowan Evans; and other extended family. W.T. was preceded in death by his parents, Sol and Mattie Yardley; sisters, Alga Foote and Nonnie Hilliard; and brother, Doss Yardley.

Graveside funeral services were held Tuesday, June 14, 2016, in Desdemona Cemetery with Brother Robert Cummings officiating.
